This is about the discomfort you need to hunt, not only to give a TED talk, but to give a successful TED talk…

Hard work alone doesn’t lead to company growth, success or anything else. It may even lead to something on the other side of the spectrum, burnout or even the end of a company or a career.

I’ve been studying growth lately -- human growth and company growth -- and the most common models out there seem to be a bit misleading. Or, at the very least, incomplete. You’ve probably seen something that looks like this:

Transformative growth isn’t something that you can just do. If you could, wouldn’t you have done it already? As it turns out, we’ve been going about growth and transformation exactly backwards: just trying to get somewhere or arrive at some result… What any of us is trying to achieve is available to all of us right now, under any circumstances, ironically though, it just doesn’t happen by only working on the goal itself. Breakthroughs ONLY happen by having the right 5 culture systems in place.

Putting something at risk as a leader not only drives your performance, it can dramatically impact the performance of others.

Constant awareness of where you are combined with an ever-growing mindset is a necessary balancing act.

Have you ever taken a moment to think about why you’re doing what you’re doing? I mean, who it’s actually for, who you are serving? And who do you have around you that you can trust?
