Why Growth Happens Faster Together
MAY, 12 2025
Growth might start within you, but it doesn’t reach its fullest potential alone. Real breakthroughs happen when we face challenges together, sharing the climb, the struggle, and the triumph.
If you want to go farther, don’t go solo. Grow together.
When it comes to growth, whether in leadership, business or life, the temptation is to go it alone.
You feel that sometimes?
Set your goals, grit your teeth, and power through! But the research, and real-world experience, actually tell a different story: we grow faster, deeper, and more sustainably when we grow together.
A Stanford study found that people who felt they were working “together” with others stuck with challenging tasks 64% longer than those working alone. They were also more engaged, more resilient, and ultimately more successful.
It’s not just about encouragement though. It’s about amplification: shared effort, shared vision, and shared accountability unlock energy that individuals rarely can tap into on their own. Growth accelerates when it’s reflected, challenged and supported by others.
I just saw this myself.
This summer, I’m hosting an elite leadership retreat to climb the Salkantay and Inca trails to Machu Picchu in Peru. And in one of our training programs, I found myself tired, I just felt spent… but there were those around me... And without even words exchanged, purely the fact that they were there and also training, was all that kept me going.
Here’s the truth, growth can be something you pursue alone.
But the most extraordinary growth?
You can’t, and shouldn’t, do it alone.
Who are the people you’re intentionally pursuing growth with? Some of the most powerful breakthroughs don’t happen behind a desk or in isolation… they happen shoulder-to-shoulder with others, facing shared challenges, moving toward shared goals.
Because in the end, growth isn’t just a personal achievement.
It’s a collective act, one that reminds us we’re capable of more when we move forward together.
